July 31, 2008: Sunset Park Sandpile

Last Saturday I biked down to Coney Island by way of Sunset Park. Along the way I meandered a little bit-- especially down by the piers in the 30s, trying to find different ways to reach the waterfront. Most of them were locked down pretty tight behind gates and no trespass signs, but a few of those gates were open, and I was able to bike right out into the working docks. No one was around, and it felt like I had the entire place to myself.

Looks like the maternity room where the big blocks are birthed.
