I was out in LA for pretty much all of July this year- visiting with Karen's family so they could get some time with Max, and doing some work. Baby duties didn't give me a whole lot of time to recreate, but I was able to get away and shoot a few times. Some spots visited: Malibu, Venice, Santa Monica, Culver City, Downtown, Silver Lake, Hollywood, West Hollywood- plus some places in between.
Special thanks to the great LA photoblogger Devan Wells, who was nice enough to show me around Koreatown and Macarthur Park, Mikey K, who put up with my driving on a whirlwind tour of LA streetart, Tim Dahl, who took me paddle surfing in the Marina, and Zach, who took me out kayaking on Anacapa Island (more on that later this week), and all the other great LA friends I got to see on this trip. Come visit NYC soon!
welcome to more for less may be the best photo you've ever taken.

Wonderful stuff as usual. Particularly love the covered car...

The composition and content of this shot are both very interesting: Strange plastic wrap on front of building, almost centered telephone pole and front shadow, "down" cutoff perfectly, arrow pointing at viewer, contrasting lights and darks. Perfect exposure. This is one scene where the isolation helps. Capturing somebody walk through it would have been too much and taken away from the impact of the other aspects.
